The different kinds of jutsu that can be learned on this site include: ninjutsu, medical ninjutsu(Eijutsu), genjutsu, taijutsu, fuuinjutsu, kenjutsu, and puppet based jutsu. Each comes with their own fighting styles, and each are equally potent. Below, these main kinds of jutsu are going to be briefly explained. Should they need it, pointers will be offered to help anyone reading this learn how to make the best possible jutsu of that category that they can.

Ninjutsu:
Probably the most common Jutsu type, ninjutsu uses hand seals and chakra to make attacks. The more control someone has over their chakra the more powerful they'll be able to make a ninjutsu attack be. If the user is not able to fully concentrate while performing a ninjutsu attack it will not work successfully. A good example of a standard ninjutsu skill would be the Fire Ball Jutsu. This technique allows the user to turn a selected portion of their chakra into a blazing heat source that is then expelled as flame from the mouth. Ninjutsu is the wildcard of the shinobi specialties, seeing as almost anything falls under ninjutsu, should it not fall easily under another category. Loosely, ninjutsu refers to all ninja arts, but for the sake of this site, ninjutsu will be used more precisely as none other than ninjutsu. When making ninjutsu for your custom jutsu, there are a couple things that you have to nail right away. First of all, and this is the case will all jutsu, you have to be specific as to what the jutsu is doing, and how exactly it is doing it. "Because this is ninjutsu" will not fly. There as to be a reason as to why you are able to do what it is that you are trying to do. However, the most important part about nailing a good ninjutsu jutsu is the bare, raw, boring, bland, and dry facts and statistics. Sizes, ranges, abilities, numbers; it all has to be included in the jutsu so that we can know just what exactly this jutsu does by just reading it once. Things to expect are things like fireballs, water blasts, summoning, manipulated earth shields, lightning armor, insect manipulation and communication etc.

Medical Ninjutsu (Eijutsu):
This is the art of healing. These kinds of jutsu are completely separate from normal ninjutsu, and yet follow the exact same set of guidelines. These jutsu, although they can be and mostly will be used for healing oneself, or fallen friends in battle, this kind of jutsu can also prove to be a very powerful weapon in the hand of the right medical ninjutsu user. Medical ninjutsu, like normal ninjutsu can be used in conjunction with elements to produce something of a edgy effect for special or emergency purposes. However, not much time needs to be spend on this art, seeing as the same rules apply to it as do ninjutsu. For a basic idea of what different ranks can do, here is a small and basic guide: D rank heals petty injuries at a slow rate, C rank heals minor injuries at a slightly faster rate, B rank heals medium sized and noticeable injuries at a slightly faster rate, A rank heals potentially deadly injuries with varying speeds, and S rank is used to heal mortal wounds, and do the unthinkable - often with a great cost. Things to expect like mystical palm, healing burnt flesh, healing broken bones, healing loss of blood, sterilizing, electrical pulses, muscle severing etc.

Genjutsu:
These kinds of attacks use mostly illusions, and are performed to confuse the enemy; giving them visions and hallucinations. They're mainly used if the user wants to run away or attack from a distance without the enemy knowing. Genjutsu attacks will usually require a lot of skill, and if performed incorrectly will not work. These types of attacks require high level of chakra control and need perfect hand seals. Because of this, they're most often used by a shinobi with very high chakra molding abilities, and sometimes as a last resort. When addressing genjutsu, there are a couple of things that you must do, but there is one main thing that is one of the most important to remember about genjutsu: every genjutsu has a trigger, and that trigger needs to be stated in the description. These triggers play off of the five senses. We have auditory, vision based, taste, feeling, and smelling based. The sound of someone's voice could cause auditory, while the movement of someone's hands or looking into someone's eyes could count as vision based. Taste, the hardest to procure, could be done by embedding the genjutsu into food that is then eaten by the target. Smell could be channeled through an aromatic gas. The trigger needs to be listed, and needs to be specific - more specific than the type of trigger. If it is vision based, say what the specific trigger is, such as a small movement of the fingers, or a twitch of the eye. One trigger can be given to each genjutsu. For more on genjutsu, and the way that it acts in combat, review the rules on genjutsu combat which can be found with the other rules. Lastly, genjutsu's range is not the same as the trigger. Eyesight is not a range, and one must post these ranges on the jutsu template. This is because, like any other jutsu, the user is sending out chakra and snaring the opponent, and that distance is finite. Genjutsu users rely on tact, sly minds, manipulation, and sometimes dirty tricks to win their fights. What might be expected from genjutsu jutsu would be a disguised landscape, a hidden trap, blurred movement, illusion based clones, etc.

Taijutsu:
This type of jutsu really only uses ones physical strength, and involves a lot of hand-to-hand combat. Taijutsu attacks are typically very fast, complex and powered with the user's own chakra - thus separating a normal kick from a kick that can send someone flying backwards. A good example of a Taijutsu user, from the anime, would be Rock Lee, who only uses this type of jutsu. Because these kinds of attacks use a powerful combination of the user's inner chakra and physical strength, they are much different from the other jutsus, and this difference gives a taijutsu user his or her flair. Things to expect like kicking, punching, faster movement, etc.

Fuuinjutsu:
Fuuinjutsu are a type of jutsu that seal objects, living beings, chakra, along with a wide variety of other things within another object. Fūinjutsu can also be used to unseal objects either from within something or someone. These jutsu are often very complex in their creation, and jutsu that can extremely powerful things. Whether you learn how to seal someone's chakra, or someone's movement, you are using the art of sealing. To some degree, fuuinjutsu is used at a global level in the Naruto world, what with sealing and unsealing weapons in fights, and using seals in combination with medical ninjutsu. These seals can also serve the purpose of a catalyst. The options are limited. From booby traps, to on the spot attacks, these sealing jutsu are known for their sheer power. In the other hand, these kinds of jutsu can be hard to use effectively, and while they are powerful, and long lasting, they come short in many areas where other kinds of combat, or medical aid are required. Because of this, the better fuuinjutsu users are those that rely on tact, and quick wit as opposed to amassed power, and strength of jutsu. Some can be both, when used correctly. These attacks are expected to seal chakra, seal movement, seal an object, etc.

Weaponary:
Weaponary pertains to techniques that entail the use of swords, whether the users be shinobi or samurai. Weaponary can be used in combination with taijutsu, ninjutsu, chakra flow and even genjutsu in order to achieve more devastating techniques. Weaponary can be powerful by itself, or when used in combination with other jutsu, and elements. Because of this, this kind of battle style is very versatile, and ranges from pure combat that does not rely on chakra, and combat that is just as heavily reliant on chakra as other shinobi. Depending on the skill of the user, one can send their chakra throughout their blade, and cause it to become much more lethal. In the way way, one can pair genjutsu with their blade movements, in order to make a very hard illusion to dodge spring forth. Practitioners of this style are considered weaponry users that specialize in the sword, and are feared because of it. Jutsu that are expected are ones like sending a powerful electrical current onto the blade of your sword, infusing your blade with chakra to cause a blur and after image, etc.

Puppetry:
Puppetry is the art of fine chakra control and precise hand movements. These jutsu revolve around the use of extending chakra like strings that attach to things in order to use them at a higher range, and with more mobility than might be expected. Most puppet users actually use puppets that are built like weapons, however a puppet user can use the same jutsu to pick up weapons, and other things and use them as such. Advanced enough puppet users can even latch their puppet strings onto living people, and manipulate them as if they were a puppet. These puppets, in most cases, have hidden weapons, or even poisonous chambers that can be used to gain an edge in battle.

Kinjutsu:

Kinjutsu, also known as Forbidden Techniques, are powerful jutsu restricted to a select few deemed worthy. These jutsu are all unique and have been regarded as some of the strongest jutsu there are. However these jutsu can only be utilized by a chosen few (you need staff, usually and preferably admin approval) and only Kinjutsu up to the user's rank can be used. These jutsu are widely thought of as restricted or forbidden, but there are variants of these jutsu taught to these few.

Most if not all jutsu in the banned jutsu list will be made into Kinjutsu. Do not request Kinjutsu above your rank, and do not attempt to gain these jutsu without permission.  Kinjutsu itself is not a specialty that anyone needs, as everyone can use Kinjutsu up to their own rank.  However a Special Characteristic is required for each Kinjutsu.

Additional Notes:
Third Specialties are allowed only for A rank characters and above. The third specialty a user may learn maxes out at their current rank, no longer 1 rank below their rank. Everyone can learn and use jutsu that is not one of their specialties two ranks below their own however.  Academy jutsu are the exception, as everyone can use these regardless of specialties.
Bukijutsu is no longer a specialty, instead those with Kenjutsu can get Special Characteristics to allow them use of more weapon types.
Sensory is no longer a specialty, instead Ninjutsu, Fuuinjutsu, and Genjutsu users can get Special Characteristics to access these sort of abilities at varying levels depending on your specialty.
