PostSubject: Shinobi Games: Stage 1 - Part 2   Tue May 14, 2013 5:23 pm

The large ship had now been at sail for its first day now, and was a few hours from its destination. Interviewers and interviewee's had been going at it for hours now. Now night had consumed the sky, and it was becoming chilly outside. The steam powered boat chugged along the cold waters...where they were heading, no one knew. Well, the Captain did. And he was certain he probably wouldn't be able to remember after he finished that last bottle of sake while his first mate manned the controls.

Earlier in the day, all of the weapons that the shinobi carried had been stored and locked in the armory right next to the boiler room. The only thing the shinobi carried was there black bags, and of course the clothing on their backs. Armor was also removed and stored as well. They had no need, no one had the power or might to pick a fight with Kitai... At least that's what he believed.

While no one person could, there was plenty of things that could.

The horns on the ship blew, marking that it was time for the shinobi to head to their barracks. Each room had a bed, a bathroom, and some refreshments within. On the bed was a notebook with instructions written on the inside, it was time for the written exam piece.

Dengen was done with the questions and he was actually somewhat tired. He got word that the participants have a room in the ship and they are requested to go see them, so that's exactly what Dengen did. The young Uchiha waked and seen all the participants and noticed that everyone appeared to be as serious as he was about this tournament. All is good though since Dengen is prepared. As Dengen eneterd his room, he notice a light pointing right on to a desk, and the desk that had a composition notebook with a perfectly sharpened pencil right on top of it. This was of course a part of the Shinobi Exams, but Dengen did not think that this was actually going to be a writing exam. Lucky for Dengen is that he loves to write and as a scientist a feels the need to LOVE questions thrown at him. The young Uchiha sat down and opened the book, he seen the question and how easy they were so what he did was simple. He finished the written piece in less then 15 minutes, giving himself enough time to shower before bringing it in.

Blake sighed as he made his way to the room he was “given”, which in and of itself is a sigh-able word. The way the word rolled off of the tongue just seemed like a long sigh. Blake was in low spirits. He had been bombarded with reporter after reporter. Turns out everyone wants to get a hold on whoever gets there first. As Blake opened the door of his “given” room, he thought how skillfully he answered the questions of reporters. Letting out a chuckle Blake took a seat in a chair adjacent to his “given” desk. Blake decided the word “given” was getting old, and focused his gaze to the ceiling. He could feel the water bouncing. Was it bouncing? Maybe, crashing. He could feel the waves crashing against the boat. Blake took a deep breath in without releasing. Honestly, he was ready for some sleep. Blake could handle the physical toll, but the mental toll was just exhausting. Blake felt that his brain was ready to explode. Being a master wordsmith is hard. Just as the thoughts escaped his head, he spotted a notebook with a pencil on it resting on the desk. Blake shook his head in refusal, but soon decided that it must have been mandatory. Blake collapsed his head on the desk and opened the notebook.

The questions didn’t look too hard, but Blake was exhausted or lazy. Blake raised his head and put his elbow down as support. He then gently smashed his head onto his now open palm. Blake’s brain began working again, but his writing was less than he was capable of, but it didn’t matter to Blake. At least he had finished it. The last question had especially left a sour taste in his mouth. Not because of its difficulty, but because Blake had discussed this topic with himself many times. As he slammed his pencil sharp end first on the paper, his head dropped to the side. Finally, I’m finished he thought. Mentally Blake debated whether he should turn it in, but he was sure that they would collect it from under his head in the morning. The world immediately went dark, and the sound of water and the crashing of waves exited Blake’s now dreaming thoughts.

All those that had arrived were sent onto individual rooms of their own, the interviewers probably being hurried into their own form of accommodation. As Maso traipsed off to his room he couldn’t his thoughts were stuck on those who had failed to make it to the boat, he wondered if they could of got lost but finding that pretty improbable, his thoughts drifted to ponder if they had seen a rather hazardous and malevolent plot ahead of them and bailed. If that was the case, he couldn’t help but feel that maybe they had made the correct decision, he dismissed these thoughts as he entered his room, he would only discover what lay ahead when he reached it. Once inside the room he dropped the bag he had been given and gave into temptation to have a nosy around the rooms they had been given. He was disappointed to discover that his belongings hadn’t been stored in here, only increasing the outlook that the later matches were going to get bad. He also noted the notebook that lay atop the desk, he read the instructions inside but decided he would focus on the questions later.

His next two discoveries brought the outlook of his day up substantially, the necessary equipment to make a cup of tea, and a working bath. He quickly got the kettle boiling and ran the bath. He folded the clothes neatly he guessed that their wouldn’t time to clean and dry them off before he needed them again. He picked his cup of tea up and slid into the bath. The warm water took the tension, that had built up due to exertion of arriving at the boat, right out of his muscles instantly relaxing them. Maso’s mind drifted onto what the Queen had said at the announcement of the exams.
“Arrival-Survival-Discovery.”
He guessed that they had already finished Arrival, that being getting to the boat. This left them either in survival or about to get there, if they had already begun survival it might unfortunately mean surviving the sinking of the boat, a prospect he was not looking for. Knowing these thoughts would get him no where, he took a sip of tea, and began to think about what he would write down once he got out of the bath.

Hikari had been escorted to a room. Of course after he was forcefully man handled to remove all weapons from his person. He of course, laughed at this. He had to take off his pants to remove all of his weapons, as some were in odd places on his body.

After doing all of this, he was put into his room on the ship, chugging along the calm waters. After a while, he looked around and saw his notebook with his exam questions. Hikari laughed and just went along with it.

He sat their reading and writing his answers to the questions and kept working on everything. He would walk around his room, then write, continue to walk around the room, and then write some more. Hikari was enjoying this whole think, however, Haku was becoming restless. He wanted to get out. He wanted to fight. Blood was pumping hard through his veins. Adrenaline was beginning to flow. Haku needed to calm down. It was not the time, nor the place to pick a fight with Kitai. Not here.

Hikari continued working on his exam, and finished it up in not too long of a time.

Well it seemed ike the time for resting had finally arrived for Raishi......or not.

He had had an uneasy trip on the boat, and he had hoped so desperately that the blowing of the horns had signified resting time. He was lead to a room; his room and it seemed like it was finally time to sneak some sleep. Well it wasn’t. There on the bed, was a notebook with on it. Sad actually, all he craved now was some blissful sleep and yet, he had work to do....it was like he was supposed to make a choice. Book or Bed. It’s not like he had much of a choice anyway, so he jumped on his bed, laying there lazily....and then grabbed the notebook and began studying the questions carefully. It seemed simple enough, yet he had so much to write.
Picking up his pen, he began to write away. A few times he paused and looked round the room, trying to get the imagery in his head before he picked up his pen and began to write some more.

In no time he was done.

Mugen didn't waste time and slapped pen to paper in matter of seconds whilst his eyes shot through each question whilst his pen trailed behind the answers. He was ready to complete this and move onto the physical part of the exams. The boat shuck momenterilly which was a wonder considering the size of it; they had taken everything which didn't bother Mugen too much as his central focus was to finish the writing as fast as possible and allow the answers to be checked by the proctor. He was done. His eyes and head slowly created a 60 degree angle near his throat as he look up at the flickering light above his head.

Light would slowly make his way to the room that had be assigned to him. It wouldn't take long for him to flop on the bed and allow a soft yawn to pour across his lips, as he picked up the notebook and began to read the intrusions. For the most part it seemed pretty straight forward as the questions were quite simple and allowed him to think, with out much effort except for the last one, that one was a bite different than the others and didn't seem to have a clear cut answer. He slowly pulled himself out of bed as he would walk over to the desk that the refreshments sat on and picked up a glass of water. He quickly examined it before taking a sip, after seeing that it did not taste funny he would allow himself to drink it more freely. Once his thirst was quiche, he took the notebook back into his hand with a pen and began to write. Within moment he'[d be done as he would place the notebook on his desk and wait for someone to come and collect it.

Upon getting to the room in the ship, the messy, confused, and disoriented Yuutsu slowly noticed a light with a desk... or was it desk with a light? Bah, whatever. He had already been nearly to tears after they took away his weaponry; what more could they throw at him? Sitting down on the desk and picking the pencil up with his left hand, he noticed a bunch of questions inside the journal. The youth merely slammed his head against the desk, chipping some of it off. At least the test wasn't timed... So let's see... Miko's eyes widened. Too easy! As both a bukijutsu user, somebody who studied Earth theory ninjutsu to use Earth before Genin, and a ninjutsu user, he knew most of the answers off hand. Quickly, his pencil scribbled and went off, only pausing if he got a slight cramp in his hands. When he was finished, the boy closed the book and sighed.

there was a large chance of him dying... but he had to keep going, for kaa-san. It didn't matter if his Roleplayer in real life was feeling down that he had school, therefore can't update as fast as other people, nor did it matter that Miko could have been better! no, he had to go on! But... looking at the contestants... the best bet was to Hiding Mole, get behind cover and get down. Possibly pull some dirty tricks but... eh.

It was late when the last test was turned in, and the captain sent the results back to Kitai via messenger bird as soon as he could. When that was done, the ship when dark as the generator was shut off to reserve power. The ship drifted through the waters to destination unknown, and they wouldn't likely see shore until dawn. So for now it was smooth sailing, at least that is what the captain thought when he laid down his head to get a few hours of shut eye.

Little did he know, but the trip to the destination was screwed the moment his first mate was replaced last minute. His replacement had all the official documents to suggest this was issued from the minister of defense himself. Little did the captain know, the Minister of Defense was an unmanned office so it was very impossible for it to be issued through that office. However, he was a drunkard and didn't think to double check suspicious activity. He snooped around int he government once ten years ago, and had one less testes to testify to his consequence.

The man was a slimy guy, literally. He was constantly sweating buckets of water, and smelled a bit sour the entire time...Almost as if he was bathing in acid. Suspicious activity and overall silence from his first mate put the Captain to unease, but he was powerless to think about it when he had drank oh so much. The first made slipped from the bridge and made his way down to the generator. No shinobi or media saw him on his way down, so he made it down relatively easy and without problem.

Next door was all the weapons of the contestants, and he was able to easily fish out some explosive tags from the cargo. He followed that up by placing strategically on the hull and generator in that room. It took no time at all, and in the end it resulted in a crafty bomb. The generator would create a large blast when it was triggered by the explosive tags, and this ship would sink in no time. Without further wasting time, the first mate slipped an old shinobi head band on his head and tied it, before performing a hand sign and vanishing in a bright flash of light.

The ship rocked violently from the blast, and the contestants and media members were sure to be awaken by the blast. Several media members in the lower deck were consumed by the fiery explosion, and screaming shortly consumed the air after the blast had ceased. Fires broke out across the lower deck as gallons and gallons of water began to consume the bottom decks. The captain woke up in a drunken haze and made his way to the bridge, where he could see their destination about 15 miles north of them. So close, and now they were sinking.

The contestants had two choices...

Go back for their weaponry that was taken, or get a head start to the island with their black bags. The armory was likely submerged by now as it was by the generator room. The island was 15 miles north, marked with a flashing coastal lighthouse. Once on the island, the next stage in the shinobi games would begin. The last one to make the island would be eliminated.

Dengen was sleeping when he suddenly felt the boat rock somewhat violently. The young Uchiha is a light sleeper so the sudden Boom also got him jolting. It didn't take long for frantic screaming to takeover the air, and as soon as Dengen opened his door the screaming amplified to the point that he actually got mad and went up to the top of the boat. The young Uchiha seen as he was the first out of the contestants to leave his room, and seeing everybody from the bottom deck running up got Dengen think that the explosion must have certainly been sourced down there. "MY BO STAFF!" Dengen screamed as he ran down pushing those that were running up. People tried a number of time to tell Dengen that he was running the wrong way, and the young Uchiha actually punched somebody who pulled him by the arm saying, "Come. Come, don't go over there." Dengen has no time to waist.

Dengen noticed that water was seeping up on the floor where all the weapons were stored. He seen his Bo Staff and quickly held it close. The young Uchiha loves his weapon. Then Dengen looked to the side and seen a few other goodies. The young Uchiha smiled and said, "The Spoils of War." The water was already by his knees but Dengen didn't care, he wanted to grab ALL of the weapons that the other contestants possessed and if he could not grab them all, he would grab the more valuable ones or at least the most he could fit in the black bag and in his shirt, if he used it as a "carrier." Dengen grabbed his 33 shurikens and 3 Kunais while after taking weapons that he believed were mighty fancy and appealing to his eyes.

Among the items found were a little black scroll. The Scroll is a black, hand-sized scroll with a deep purple bordering. It's rolled up quite thickly, and is very light. When unfolded, it grows to 4 feet in length and reveals several storage seals. The other weapon found was a weird mask of some kind. It is a gas mask and It has two large eye holes set into a plastic covering. This moves down towards a snout looking protrusion with a circular metal cylinder at its apex. The third item stolen wasn't fancy at all, but instead it was in the wrong place at the wrong time since it was on the way out, Dengen felt the need to grab it for defense, It's a rusty scalpel. Just because he is the first one here doesn't mean he is the last, although the water is getting somewhat high and up to Dengens waist now. Still he leaves the storage room, Hoping nobody will catch him on the way out, he heads towards the Island. Washing up in the island.

Blake was awakened by the sound of an explosion. No, that’s not quite right. Blake had been awake an hour before the explosion. These were the side effects of the short nap Blake had had earlier. At first Blake was groggy, but after the jarring blast, he was side awake. Immediately Blake rushed out to the deck of the ship. Everything was burning. Blake thought this was good. Blake could tell that the ship was sinking, and if it was burning than it must have been made out of wood. Blake knew that wood would float in the ocean. Blake was quick to get to action. He harnessed the water from the sea and began to put out the fires. It was really no problem for the water user, although he did get burned a few times. Blake noticed that by the time he finished a small portion of the ship, the same ship had already sunk more than ten feet. Blake quickly realized just how inefficient putting out the fires would be. He began to only put out fires obstructing escape routes. After finishing on the deck, Blake went to retrieve the passengers. Blake figured the shinobi could fend for themselves a little longer.

Blake began to escort person after person out to the deck. The wooden floor of the deck would provide the perfect tool for escape. Blake was hurriedly thanked for helping, but he told them not to talk, so that smoke wouldn’t fill their lungs. Not everything was as easy as it sounded. Blake was forced to put out some of the people on fire, break down doors, and carry out the unconscious. Some reporters didn’t even make it. They had burned to death by the time Blake had got there. Blake remembered one set of passengers specifically. Blake heard shrieks from behind a door, but no matter how hard he pushed he was unable to open the door in any way. He barreled against the door, but no progress was made. Blake threw his whole body at the door which broke his shoulder, but still the people inside were stuck. Finally Blake found a piece of pipe nearby and decided to pry the door open. He was successful, but the sight inside was something that could and should be forgotten. A mother was tugging on the hand of her daughter. The bloody hand of her daughter. The daughter had been crushed from the chest down. There was no saving her. In fact, by the time Blake arrived her eyes had rolled back into her head. Next to the mother was a small boy crying and pleading for his sister to be okay, but the cries and pleas made no difference. Blake stepped inside the room and tried to coerce the family to leave, but they wouldn’t go. After minutes of back and forth Blake told the mother that he would retrieve the daughter’s body if she went to the deck with her son. The mother reluctantly agreed. Quickly Blake put the pipe under the ruble and hoisted it up. In one quick motion he removed the daughter, or what was left of her rather. The rubble again crashed against the floor as Blake held the bloody crushed body of a girl no older than eight. The blood didn’t faze him, neither did the death, he had been around both of those things before. What really touched Blake was the peaceful look on her face. Not wanting to dwell on the fact Blake hurried upstairs after shutting the girl’s eyes. He delivered her to her mother, who thanked Blake and burst into tears. Blake would have stayed and comforted her, but there was no time.
(POST1)

After Blake rescued all of the passengers who were not shinobi, he began taking a head count. Once Blake realized how many people there were, he quickly got to work by breaking pieces of wood off the ship and giving it to an individual. Once all of the work was done, Blake quickly ushered the people into the ocean. The water was surprisingly warm tonight, so no one should die from hypothermia Blake assured himself. Blake had to sigh at the large amount of work he had just completed, but then Blake realized something. He had forgotten the captain. In almost an explosion of speed, Blake made his way to the captain’s quarters. Unlucky for Blake the hallway was completely submerged and underwater. Blake wondered how long it had been like this and if the captain was even still alive. Blake dived into the water and began swimming. He easily navigated through the rather still currents. It was his specialty after all. After Blake found the door, he attempted to pry it open, but to no avail. Blake stored some water in his gullet, and shot it at the door. It was completely swept off its hinges. Blake swam straight for the captain, who he found floating at the top of the room. Blake quickly made his way to the surface. His air was quickly running out. In an amazing showing of underwater speed, Blake made it to air. Once he got to the now torn deck of the ship, he began to resuscitate the captain. After three lungs fool of air, the captain coughed up water and regained consciousness. Blake took a small rest. As he looked over the edge of the boat, he noticed that the currents were pushing the people Blake had saved to an island in the distance. That would be a good place for them to find help.

Blake then remembered the other shinobi and wondered if this was the island they were making their way to. Blake decided to do one last thing before joining the people in the water. He decided to get his weapons. He asked one of the crewmates who remained on board to help the captain. The crewmate told Blake that the weapons were in the captain’s closet. Blake smirked and began to make his way back into the water of the hallway. The water had significantly risen, but Blake should have no problem making it in and back out. Blake made his way into the captain’s room, and just as he thought it was no problem. Blake grabbed a box, which he assumed held the weapons and began making his way back. But before he was able to get back, something began choking him. Blake opened his eyes, but nothing was in front of him. The choking continued. Blake was almost to the edge of water, but he was slowly drowning. Now he would never be able to give his fellow shinobi back their weapons. Blake must have just been over exerted. Blake slipped out of consciousness.

When Blake awakened he was on the deck of the ship, which was almost under water. Sitting next to Blake was the crewmember. He informed Blake that the captain had already left and many of the shinobi too. Blake sighed. He wasn’t going to make it to the island in time. As if reading his mind, the crewmate comforted him.

Don’t worry. We have an emergency boat,” the man said.

Blake couldn’t believe his luck. The e-boat that the man was talking about was completely motorized. It looked like Blake was going to get to the island first anyway. He just smirked to himself. The man lowered Blake and the box into the e-boat and began to depart. Blake bid fair well to the burning ship. He knew that he would not miss it. As the e-boat sped, Blake drifted to sleep. When he woke up, for the third time that night, he was at the island, and inaccurate to his prediction he was the second to arrive. Blake never had time to open the box and find that his lucky scalpel was missing.

Haku was awake. All night long he stayed mainly awake. He drifted in and out of a light sleep a few times, but he awoke completely at the sound of the explosion. Things were really hectic once that had gone off. Haku saw people clammering everywhere as soon as the explosion occured. Haku ran quickly and grabbed his black bag from the shelf and ran out his room and down the hall. After he realized the water was increasing up his body, already at his knees, he knew he needed to get out quickly. He ran over to the room where the door was left ajar. He saw inside, his trusty black tool bags that held all of his ninja gear. He grabbed it quickly and started heading out for the top of the ship. On his way up to the main deck, Haku was strapping his bag onto his back and making sure it stayed on tight. He was going to need it.

When he arrived up top, he noticed a bunch of the news crew running around. Haku ran over to the edge of the ship, pushing people out of his way and he dove into the water. By this point, the ships deck was maybe 10 to 20 feet from sea level. He noticed the coast as he pushed his wet hair from his eyes. He began swimming. He used a lot of the heavy waves that were coming in with the tides to push him along, and it was helping a lot. Sometimes swimming came to Haku almost like a second nature. He stayed ahead of other people swimming to shore and was passing most people with excellent speed.

After a long while of swimming, Haku arrived onto the coast, where he saw Blake, a legion member, and another boy. He did not recognize this boy, only knowing that he was in the Shinobi Games. Haku took his black bag off of his bag and kept carrying it in his hands. He sat down at the tide and took a breather after taking his long swim to shore.

Maso was knocked off his bed, by the sudden lurch of the Boat as it was blown off balance. His mind slowly came to him as he rolled across the floor, only the wall stopping his path. He clutched his arm as he got up, it had absorbed most of the impact from both his fall and collision but would certainly leave some bruises. The screams and hurried footsteps of people thundered through the door and walls, it seemed that no one had any idea what was going on. He threw on his black bag, and stepped into his doorway, people hurried in both directions looking for any way to get off the ship. It was pandemonium in all meanings of the word. There was a cacophony of noise as fellow passengers coursed past each other, not caring for anyone’s survival but for their own. Flames also licked up from the sea beginning to engulf part of the ships, beginning to engulf the demons of humanity, journalists. Some souls had already decided to make for the nearest Island and plunged into the Phlegethon below. Before he could join them he needed to acquire his weapons, they formed a vital part of his combat, and he would be much further limited without them. He guessed by their Queens wish to cause them problems; they would be located near to where the explosion had happened.

People swarmed past him as he got deeper down, the crowd thankfully thinned down quickly as he got deeper into the ship. Soon the water was up to his ankles as he headed towards where the water originated, he was though to see another person down here, but as soon as they had passed he thought that he had seen them earlier at the stadium so supposed they were another contestant who got here earlier. He eventually reached the armoury, the water already coming up to his waist, with the flow showing no signs of abating. Despite this making movement more difficult it did making searching easier, as everything floated. In little time he found his equipment bag and on a quick check it contained everything, yet despite his consternatious searching he couldn’t find his mask. As more water gushed in, Maso gave up any hope, it was better to face uncertain death later than certain death now, thus he reached into his pack to remove an explosive tag. He began to wade out with great effort, and tried to move as swiftly as possible. He stuck the tag on the wall facing the door, he planned to destroy the wall and bulkheads with the intention to flood the room further. He didn’t want others to get a hold of their weapons as well. He stuffed his bag inside the black one he was given earlier, and fought even harder against the water, to get away from the oncoming blast.

Once he had retreated a fair distance and the water level dropped sufficiently, he detonated the tag, rocking to boat again. The shock forced him against the wall of the corridor, the water at his legs began to grow at an ever increasing rate. He pushed on faster, exerting even more effort. The boat would sink even faster now. He passed a couple of people travelling in the opposite direction and even more still pushing towards the railings. Discovering the lack of progress he was making due to throng of people, Maso jumped up onto part of the ship that rose up and pushed off, diving into the mass of death and flame below. The cold water met him as entered its murky depths, it sent a shock wave across Maso’s body as he adapted to the cold. Maso thus began the torturous swim towards the Island where everyone was making their way. Towards the end of the swim, Charon on his boat shot pass and seemed to get to the Island first. As he caught closer more, and more people emerged from the black depths and onto the unknown beach. As soon as he made it, all Maso could do was turn around and lie down.

Raishi was on his bed, attempting to catch some well deserved sleep when he fell off his bed from the violent shaking of his bed. He hit the floor hard, but it brought his senses alive as they were previously on hibernate, due to the fact that he was dozing off to sleep.
Automatically, he jumped up from the cold, hard floor, grabbing his shinobi bag that was giving to him for the sake of the games, and he ran out of his room. He hadn't noticed the screaming until he stepped out of his door....it was chaos.

He had never been on a boat before, or in this type of situation, but he did know one thing....he had to get to the surface. He also knew that there was only one thing that could ave caused such commotion.....an explosion.
With that he began running, following the broken signs on the walls of the building. As he ran for his life, he heard somebody shouting something about water...then he figured that the boat was sinking. He had absolutely no time to waste.

On the way to the surface, he struggled passed the terrified crowds of the media, and the ship crew. What had happened? Who could have done this? There was no time to even figure out anything. The only thing he could do, was to run.
Eventually, he reached the surface, happy to breathe in the fresh cool breeze, despite the screams of terror in the background. It was dark and cold, and Raishi could see that the Islan was just a few miles away....not far at all.
Without thought, Raishi tightened the straps of the backpack, and jumped in the cold waters, swimming for his life.
